Bio Jürgen Franz

Jürgen Franz ist Professor für Querflöte an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg sowie Mitglied im NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester Hamburg.

Der in Rödermark bei Frankfurt am Main aufgewachsene Flötist kam als Frühstudent an das Dr. Hoch`s Konservatorium in Frankfurt und begann anschließend sein Studium an der Musikhochschule Frankfurt. Nach dem Vordiplom wechselte Jürgen Franz an die Musikhochschule Stuttgart zu Jean Claude Gérard bei dem er sein Studium mit der Note „sehr gut“ abschloss.
Weitere Studien führten Jürgen Franz zu Maxence Larrieu nach Genf und zu James Galway nach Luzern.

Seine Orchesterlaufbahn begann Jürgen Franz als Mitglied der Bielefelder Philharmoniker. Danach trat er die Stelle als 1. Flötist bei den Stuttgarter Philharmonikern an und seit August 2000 ist Jürgen Franz Mitglied im NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester Hamburg. Außer Gastspielen bei Orchestern wie den Berliner Philharmonikern, dem Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, u.a. spielte Jürgen Franz regelmäßig als Soloflötist mit dem Orchester der Mailänder Scala. Er war ebenfalls Mitglied im Orchester der Bayreuther Wagner-Festspiele.

Jürgen Franz wurde zudem von Lorin Maazel als Soloflötist zum Orchester "Symphonica Toscanini" eingeladen.


Radio und CD-Produktionen sowie zahlreiche solistische Konzerte führten ihn nach Frankreich, Amerika, Japan, China, Ungarn, Estland und in die Schweiz.

Solistische CD-Einspielungen wie, „Flötentrios aus Frankreich“, „European Recital“ und „Sonaten von J. M. Leclair“ mit Maxence Larrieu sind bei den Labels Tyxart und Chant de Linos erschienen. Sein Album „the poetic flute“ ist auf allen Streaming Plattformen zu hören.

Als Herausgeber hat Jürgen Franz Werke für Flöte und Klavier bearbeitet, u.a. Werke von Debussy, Wagner, Brahms. Seine eigenen Fantasien für Flöte und Klavier über „La Bohème“, „Turandot“ und „Madame Butterfly“ sind in kürzester Zeit international beliebte Werke im Flötenrepertoire geworden.

 

Als Solist und Kammermusiker tritt Jürgen Franz bei international renommierten Musik- und Flötenfestivals auf, zudem ist er als Jurymitglied internationaler Wettbewerbe gefragt.
Seine Leidenschaft als Pädagoge führt ihn zu zahlreichen Meisterkursen im In-und Ausland.
Als Artist für „W.S. Haynes Flutes“ spielt er eine 19,5k Goldflöte des berühmten amerikanischen Flötenhersteller.

Jürgen Franz is professor for flute at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg and a member of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg.

The flautist grew up in Rödermark near Frankfurt am Main, as a pre student he studied at the Dr. Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt and then began his studies at the Frankfurt Music University. After the pre-diploma, Jürgen Franz moved to the Music University in Stuttgart to study with Jean Claude Gérard. Further studies led Jürgen Franz to Maxence Larrieu in Geneva and to James Galway in Lucerne.

Jürgen Franz began his orchestral career as a member of the Bielefeld Philharmonic. He then took up the position of first flutist with the Stuttgart Philharmonic and since August 2000 Jürgen Franz has been a member of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg. In addition to guest performances with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and others, Jürgen Franz regularly played as solo flautist with the orchestra of La Scala in Milan. He was also a member of the orchestra at the Bayreuth Wagner Festival. Jürgen Franz was invited by Lorin Maazel to play as solo flutist in the "Symphonica Toscanini" orchestra.

Radio and CD productions as well as numerous solo concerts have taken him to France, America, Japan, China, Hungary, Estonia and Switzerland.

Solo CD recordings such as "Flute Trios from France", "European Recital" and "Sonatas by J. M. Leclair" with Maxence Larrieu, have been released on the Tyxart and Chant de Linos labels. His latest album "the poetic flute" can be heard on all streaming platforms.

As editor, Jürgen Franz has arranged works for flute and piano, including works by Debussy, Wagner and Brahms. His own written fantasies for flute and piano on "La Bohème", "Turandot" and “Madame Butterfly” have quickly become popular works in the flute repertoire all over the world.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Jürgen Franz performs at internationally renowned music and flute festivals, he is also in demand as a jury member at international competitions. His passion as a teacher led him to numerous master classes in Germany and abroad.
Jürgen Franz is artist for "W.S. Haynes Flutes” and plays a 19.5k gold flute made by the famous American flute manufacture.

Jürgen Franz è professore di flauto all'Università di Musica e Teatro di Amburgo e membro della NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester Hamburg.

Il flautista, cresciuto a Rödermark vicino a Francoforte sul Meno, venne dal Dr. Hoch di Francoforte e poi ha iniziato i suoi studi presso l'Università di Musica di Francoforte.
